My official summer look!

Hey everyone! I literally just got back from Port Aransas - went with the fam and hubby down to the beach. It was a brutal 7-8 hr drive, but we stayed at a beach house for 5 days and I just had time to open up my laptop. I am also finally feeling 100% better, thank you to all who were concerned - it means a great deal to me!! I didn't get a chance to take any pics down at the beach house because i'm trying this new thing where I stay away from technology 100% when i'm on vacation :) BUT, my sister did take some and i'll post them later! So I officially have a "Summer look" that i'm loving right now! Here's the look:

Sorry

Extremely sorry for the lack of videos or blog posts. I just came back from Monterrey, Mexico (which was AWESOME by the way, great great food!) and I think I caught a small cold. My throat has been hurting for the past 2 days. And i've been sleeping a ton, so hopefully i'll be better soon. And for those who wished me luck on my teaching certification test, thank you all so very much! I passed! This means I get to graduate and start student teaching! I seriously want to thank you all for supporting me. Just wanted to give you all a quick update, and I will see you all very soon! Cynthia

Random Haulage :)

I went to the mall yesterday mainly to buy my mother in law and father in laws birthday gifts AND father's day gift. ugh - but I just HAD to buy myself something too. Hubby doesn't read the blog so he won't know :) He's still in MEXICOOO. Can you believe that? It's been FOREVER!
Things I got: *MAC Angel L/S *MAC Ravishing L/S *MAC Underage L/G *MAC Queen Bee L/G *3 Ardell 109 lashes *Duo adhesive (dark) *MAC Naked Pigment *Stila pan *Stila Kitten e/s Favoritest thing that I bought is definitely my Ravishing lipstick by MAC. OMG - i've been eyeing this lipstick forever now and the orange/coral color matches my skintone so perfectly. I love IT!
Swatches:
Okay I have to admit, I wasn't so crazy about Naked Honey collection - but I had to get Queen Bee Lipglass. It fits so perfectly over Ravishing lipstick. My LOVEEE! Picture of my eyes using MAC Naked Pigment. Don't know what happened to the lighting - I need to work on that.
My last teaching cert test is tomnorrow - if I pass I can finally student teach. Wish me luck! Cynthia

Make your own dry shampoo!

I came across a couple of websites that informs us needy girls on the making of your own dry shampoo! I didn't want to dish out $20 something dollars for some high quality dry shampoo, so instead - I simply looked around in my kitchen for some powders. Corn starch! The powder in the corn starch will actually soak up the oils in your hair and mattify it! Making it look nice and clean :) Other powder options are: *Coco powder *Baking powder *Baby powder *Cornmeal
OMG this stuff (cornstarch) does wonders. I was skeptical at first, but this really does work! Check out the before and after pics (The pictures show my greasy hair after 3 days of not washing it):
Here's how you do it: Step 1 - Take alittle bit of the corn starch (little goes a LONG WAY) Step 2 - Use finger to dab into powder, and dab it along your scalp Step 3 - Massage the powder into your hair Step 4 - Use a hair brush and comb out excess powder Step 5 - WASH YOUR BRUSH PLEASE! Voila! You are ready to head out into society! Please do NOT substitute this instead of washing your hair. I wash my hair every 3 days. Personal hygiene is still a must :) Happy Friday! Cynthia

Revlon Fit & Pretty glue on Nails

Review!!! I had bought these just to try it out because i've never had a "French Manicure" before. Also, this was the first time of me actually buying anything like this, so this was actually a cool experience! Pros of the product: 1. Pretty!! *Not kidding girls, it looks so pretty!! 2. Natural *It doesn't look fake! That's always a plus :) 3. Cheap *I bought this at my local CVS (drugstore) here in the US and was around $8.00! But you can always get coupons in your magazines for dollar offs etc for revlon products! I love inexpensive things that actually look decent. 4. Variety of different sizes *The package comes with so many different sizes for your nails to choose from. It's very convenient. 5. Comes with 2 sets of nails! *Yes ladies, you don't only get enough for one set of nails - you get 2 sets!! That's so awesome!! Okay - now the CONS of the product: 1. The width of nails are too wide (for me) *The width size of the nails are too wide for my nail beds. Not sure if it's just me...but it doesn't fit exactly *snug* like the product claims. 2. Length of nail is too long! *It's so long that I had to trim it and file it down to a reasonable size. I do a lot of house work so I can't have long nails. But this was my preference. 3. Glue is just "okay" *I had the nails on for a good 5 days, and only 4 have come off since then. But keep in mind that I do a lot of dishes and house work. Also keep in mind that this was the first time of me actually gluing on nails so maybe I didn't do it right?? But let me also tell you girls, that after 5 days - I opened a can of Sunkist with my index fingernail and it witheld the pressure! AMAZINGGG 4. White tips are prone to chipping :( *Yes..unfortunately the white tips chip. But maybe it's because I'm always doing dishes?? Revlon has products that are chip free - you may want to check those out instead. 5. Not easy to put on :/ *Maybe i'm a newbie to applying glue on nails - but this was seriously a challenge. The glue got everywhere and sometimes would leave an imprint of my finger on the nail because the glue would get ontop of the nail. Practice makes perfect, right? So, the final question.......Would I buy this product again? YES! Because it's pretty and the glue is pretty good. Lasted me 5 days! Rating? 7 out of 10 :)
****EDIT**** One of my readers Jo mentioned the process of removing the nails, and I have to say it was horrible experience. It took FOREVER for the nails to dissolve. You're suppose to soake your fingers in acetone remover - but I only had a bottle that contained little acetone. So needless to say, it took me longer than an hour to remove the nails. I even ended up peeling off the nails once the nail softened because it was taking too long. Another negativeeee, but worth it? YES! Cynthia
